Travel Medicine

When you travel, staying healthy is a top priority. No matter where you’re going, Traveler’s Health Services at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Delaware County Memorial Hospital can provide you with the most up-to-date medical information available for your itinerary.
Helping You With Your Travels
Whether you’re visiting the sunny beaches of Mexico, trekking through the Himalayas, or going on safari in Kenya, there are potential health risks to consider. A travel medicine specialist can determine any risks and how to avoid them in your travels. During your consultation, our specially trained physicians will review your health history and itinerary in order to assess your risk of exposure to infection. We’ll provide you with up-to-date information about the health conditions at your destination, and pre-travel advice on international immunization requirements and recommendations. In addition to ensuring that immunizations are current and reviewing pre-existing medical problems that may require specific provisions either during flight or the course of a trip, Travelers’ Health Services educate travelers on safety issues, including crime and terrorism.

More Information
Who Needs Travel Medicine Counseling?
The likelihood of exposure to exotic diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, typhoid, cholera, and dengue is higher in remote destinations and developing countries, so travelers to these countries should consult with a specialist. With proper planning and immunization, most travel-related illnesses can be prevented.
Planning Ahead
Most vaccines require several weeks to take effect, and some can’t be given at the same time, so it’s best to plan your first visit to Traveler’s Health Service 4-6 weeks before your trip. Remember, multiple immunizations sometimes require additional visits. We are happy to discuss any and all charges with you at any time.
