For those who may be considering bariatric weight loss surgery, Crozer-Keystone just made getting started a little easier. Men and women can now complete a free educational seminar for the Crozer-Keystone Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Program online.

All prospective Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Program patients must complete an educational seminar as a first step in the program. Crozer-Keystone offers physician-run, in-person seminars each month at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, the Crozer Medical Plaza at Brinton Lake in Glen Mills and Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill. The new online option is another example of the program’s patient-friendly approach.

“Having the technology to provide bariatric surgery educational seminars online is a great way to help busy women and men who cannot travel to one of our three locations get vital information and fulfill our requirement of attending a seminar when deciding to move forward with the program,” said Aley E. Tohamy, M.D., FACS, medical director of the bariatric program and robotics committee. “Our goal with online seminars is to give the customer all of the information and resources possible for a successful transformation towards better health.”

To get started, men and women can visit and sign in to watch the seminar. Participation is required and prospective patients must view the entire seminar and participate in the questions in order for it to register as completed. Once a prospective patient has completed the seminar, a representative from the Crozer-Keystone Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Program will contact him or her within 48 hours.

The Crozer-Keystone Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Program is led by Tohamy and fellow surgeon Sergey Zhitnikov, M.D. The physicians and the entire team of the program believe that reaching and maintaining a healthy weight is a lifelong commitment. The program has performed hundreds of surgeries with an outstanding history of outcomes. It has been named a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). It has also been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality Bariatric Surgery Facility and a Center for Excellence by the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association for 2015-2016

For prospective patients who prefer to attend a physician run seminar, pre-registration is required. To register, call 610-619-8450 or visit for online registration.
