For the last 24 years, staff from Eagle National Bank in Upper Darby have dedicated countless hours to plan, oversee and execute a 5K walk/run to benefit the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center, located at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill.

Despite severely inclement weather this year, more than 300 people turned out to walk or run at the event, which raised more than $28,000 to support the cancer center’s programs and services. Gene C. Maffey, president and CEO for Eagle National Bank, says that the bank “is proud to support the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center for 24 consecutive years. Over $700,000 has been raised since the Walk/Run’s inception. The employees of Eagle National Bank donate their time and energy to support this event, and we are very proud of its long-running success and beneficial impact.”

Marie DeStefano, R.N., M.S.N., FAAMA, administrative director of Oncology for Crozer-Keystone Health System, sees the impact that Eagle National Bank’s donations have made on the hospital’s cancer patients every day. “Members of our community need help in many different ways,” she says. “From education through screening, diagnosis and treatment, we are always there to help. We want to assure that our patients are getting state-of-the-art care in the communities where they live. Many of these programs are made possible by using the funds donated by Eagle National Bank. I would like to thank everyone at the bank, on behalf of our entire hospital family and patients, for this generous donation as well as for their longstanding support. They are true goodwill ambassadors.”
