Crozer-Keystone Partners with Marple Library to Offer Free Seminars

Springfield, Pa. – Crozer-Keystone Health System and Marple Library are proud to present monthly free educational outreach programs. The following presentations are scheduled for September 2013:

Friday, Sept. 13
1 p.m.
“What You Should Know about the Flu”

 At this program you can expect to learn the signs and symptoms of the flu, and how they differ from the common cold; what you should do if you think you have the flu, and when to see your doctor; and the importance of getting your annual flu shot.

Friday, Sept. 20
10 a.m.
“Building ‘MyPlate’”

At this program you will learn how to use MyPlate to build a healthier diet; how to balance calories with MyPlate; and which foods to eat more of (and which to eat less of!) for a healthier diet.

Tuesday, Sept. 24
10:30 a.m.
“Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular Disease – Know Your Risk Factors”

At this program you will gain an understanding of blood pressure and how it affects your heart health; what risk factors can contribute to cardiovascular disease; and how to keep your blood pressure under control through diet, lifestyle modification and/or medication

Wednesday, Sept. 25
10:30 a.m.
“Understanding Diabetes”

At this program, you will learn what blood sugar readings indicate diabetes; what changes in the body cause diabetes; an understanding of Hemoglobin A1c; and how carbohydrates affect blood sugar.
