Alicia McCann Named 2012 Delaware County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Year
William McCune, president of DCMH, presents the Employee of the Year award to Alicia McCann, breast nurse navigator for DCMH.
Drexel Hill, PA--Delaware County Memorial Hospital presented its highest staff award, Employee of the Year, to Alicia McCann, R.N. during the hospital’s annual Employee Service Awards ceremony.
McCann is the hospital’s breast nurse navigator. She has been a dedicated member of the DCMH family since August 1999.
McCann is described as someone who is humble, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. Anyone who meets her sees these qualities right away and says that the best decision the hospital ever made was hiring her. Alicia always goes the extra mile for every patient and makes them feel like they are in the best hands and getting the best of services. Patients have said that McCann is “a port in the storm and a friend in time of great need.” Just last Christmas, she gave money to a patient to buy presents for her sons so that their dreams of Santa Claus would not be broken.
“Alicia is a caring, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable clinician,” says Marie DeStefano, R.N., M.S.N., FAAMA, administrative director of Oncology for Crozer-Keystone Health System. “She is well-respected by her colleagues and loved by her patients. It has been said that Alicia is an angel sent to help breast cancer patients. I am honored to have her as an employee and work with her as a colleague. The Employee of the Year award is well-deserved.”
McCann resides in Drexel Hill with her husband and their three beagles.
DCMH is privileged to celebrate Alicia McCann’s accomplishments, and extremely grateful to have her as part of the team.
