4th Annual “Heel” the Burn Walk/Run Benefits Burn Treatment Center

The 4th annual “Heel” the Burn 5k run/1M walk on Saturday, June 8 benefits the Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and activities will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. This event is set to take place at the Williamstown Middle/High School race track. This is a USA-FT Certified 5K Course.

The money raised from “Heel” the Burn will go to the Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center. Last year, this celebratory event created for burn survivors, raised $5,240. Jackie Roberts, the creator of “Heel” the Burn, wanted to give back to the Burn Treatment Center after she spent five days at the center as a burn patient during the summer of 2008.

The Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center has treated over 11,000 pediatric and adult patients since its beginnings in November 1973 and has created an international reputation for excellence in holistic burn care. In addition, the Burn Treatment Center is the first in suburban Philadelphia to meet the criteria of the American Burn Association’s Burn Center Verification/ Consultation Program, which is the highest standard of care for burn patients approved by the American College of Physicians.

The Burn Treatment Center is the only burn facility in Suburban Philadelphia that offers an array of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to treat the burn care patient and their families physically and emotionally.
