DCMH to Host Annual Diabetes Day on 11/14
DREXEL HILL, Pa.—Each year in November, Delaware County Memorial Hospital holds a signature event in honor of National Diabetes Month. Join us this year for our annual “Diabetes Day” on Monday, November 14. The health fair will be held from 9-11 a.m. in Meeting Rooms A & C of the hospital. Free cholesterol/glucose screenings will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. Overnight fasting is required for cholesterol/glucose screenings.
This event will offer informational tables on nutrition, exercise, diabetes, cancer prevention, Senior Health Services, tobacco prevention and more. Free snacks and giveaways will also be provided! Following the Diabetes Day health fair, Lynn Diven, R.D., L.D., C.D.E., nutritionist for the Crozer-Keystone Center for Diabetes, will give a special presentation, “What’s on the Menu for Diabetes?”, at noon in Meeting Room A of the hospital. At this informative presentation, you will learn what a carbohydrate is, how many carbohydrates a person should have, when to check your blood sugar to see how the carbohydrates are affecting it, how to correctly read labels, and the importance of fiber and Omega 3’s for people with diabetes.
