CKHS Joins Coventry Cares Medical Assistance Plan
Crozer-Keystone Health System, including Crozer-Keystone Health Network (CKHN) physicians, recently joined HealthAmerica’s provider network for its CoventryCares Medical Assistance (Medicaid) plan. Effective July 15, all CKHS hospitals and doctors are now available to provide care and services to CoventryCares members.
The two organizations are developing a pay-for-performance initiative slated for rollout in 2011. The program is based on a patient-centric medical home model and other quality measures with the goal of keeping patients healthier and lowering costs.
“Our number-one priority is to provide our members with convenient access to affordable, quality healthcare,” said Timothy E. Nolan, chief executive officer at HealthAmerica. “CKHS is well respected and recognized for their quality and compassion. CoventryCares is only the second Medicaid plan to provide access to all CKHS facilities and physicians in southeastern Pennsylvania.”
HealthAmerica was awarded a Medical Assistance managed care contract by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Public Welfare on April 1. It provides services under the name CoventryCares to Medical Assistance members in the five-county Southeast Zone, including Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. With the addition of CKHS to the CoventryCares provider network, enrollees have access to more than 40 acute-care hospitals in southeastern Pennsylvania.
“We are pleased to join the CoventryCares provider network and to serve the healthcare needs of their Medical Assistance members,” said Joan K. Richards, president and chief executive officer of Crozer-Keystone Health System. "Our teams have a shared goal of making sure that the communities we serve have access to quality healthcare. Our new collaboration gives us an opportunity to achieve that goal.”
