Life Center of Delaware County received donations from Delaware County Memorial Hopsital

Delaware County Memorial Hospital recently donated bed linens, clothing and other items to Life Center of Delaware County. Left to right are Margaret Drake, Associate Chief Nursing Officer DCMH; Katrina Dashiell, administrative assistant; Fran Montague, director; Patrick Kerrwood, President, DCMH.

Crozer-Keystone Health System’s workforce and medical staff rallied their holiday spirit and pooled their resources to provide Delaware County charities with food, toys, clothing and other necessities.

Starting with a Thanksgiving food drive in November, the health system donated van-loads of food to Community Action Agency of Delaware County (CAADC).

Immediately following the distribution of food, toy drive boxes were filled repeatedly in our lobbies, again in partnership with CAADC. Eight van-loads of toys, games, books, sports equipment and art supplies were delivered to CAADC.

Sponsored by the Crozer-Chester Medical Center Department of Care Management, the annual Adopt-a-Friend program again supported homebound or sheltered Delaware County residents and several nursing homes. Partnered with the Delaware County Services for the Aging, Adopt-a-Friend benefited Belvedere, Brinton Manor, Westgate Hills, Prospect Park, Sterling, Wallingford, Connor-Williams and Broomall Nursing and Rehab this year

Additionally, Crozer-Keystone donated clothing, toiletries, household necessities and funding to the following shelters and nursing homes:

  • Wesley House Emergency Shelter in Chester
  • Cityteam in Chester
  • Life Center of Eastern Delaware County Shelter in Upper Darby
  • Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Prospect Park
  • Conner-Williams Nursing Home in Ridley Park
  • Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County in Media

“All of these gifts are reflective of the charitable heart that exists at Crozer-Keystone,” said health system CEO, Sharif Omar. “Our commitment to corporate citizenship extends beyond the care provided at our facilities. As Delaware County’s largest employer, we’re committed to building a healthy place to live and work.”

Also notable is the sizeable donation of toys Crozer-Keystone accepts on behalf of its pediatric patients every year from the Delco Cruisers. The Delco Cruisers is a local car club that runs “Cruise for Kids,” a holiday toy delivery that has made hospital visits more enjoyable for kids for the last 12 years.

“It’s a magical holiday moment every year when dozens of classic cars and motorcycles deliver toys to Crozer-Chester Medical Center’s burn unit, pediatric unit and emergency department,” said hospital president, Michael Curran. “It’s a holiday gift to the community’s children that is so generous it lasts all year.”
