Crozer-Keystone Health System Welcomes Minimally Invasive General Surgeon Michael B. Goldberg, M.D.
After earning his medical degree at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and completing his residency at Temple University, Goldberg completed his fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) in Boston. It was at BWH, which is the hospital of Harvard Medical School, where Goldberg learned robotic-assisted surgical techniques.
Crozer-Keystone Health System offers the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Goldberg is trained to perform a wide range of procedures using the system – including gallbladder and appendix removal, hernia repair, and procedures to correct certain gastrointestinal conditions. At Crozer, he also will use da Vinci to perform bariatric gastric bypass and gastric sleeve procedures to minimize complications resulting from obesity – such as hypertension and diabetes – and to help patients lose significant excess weight.
Born and raised locally, in New Jersey, Goldberg is excited to make Philadelphia his home and care for the residents of Delaware County and beyond. He is especially happy to be back at Crozer-Keystone and reunited with the system’s Interim Chair of Surgery, Aley Tohamy, M.D., whom Goldberg met when he rotated at Crozer during his residency.
Goldberg believes that surgery is not just the procedure done in the operating room. He says that the best recipe for success is a treatment plan that involves the patient and their family as one unit. He feels immense satisfaction in seeing his patients get better faster, especially bariatric patients who leave the hospital no longer needing medication.
Goldberg’s office is located at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, One Medical Center Blvd., POB II, Suite 326, in Upland. He will eventually add office locations at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park and Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill. To make an appointment, call 610-619-8480.
