Crozer-Keystone Regional Cancer Center
Convenient, all-encompassing care
Did you know?
Crozer-Keystone Regional Cancer Center is part of the Fox Chase Crozer-Keystone Cancer Partnership, advancing patient care services and clinical research into Western Delaware County.
By joining the Crozer Medical Plaza and Crozer Health Pavilion at Brinton Lake, our newest cancer care facility continues to expand patient care services in Western Delaware County.
The Crozer-Keystone Regional Cancer Center (CKRCC), opened in late 2011, is home to three oncology practices, radiation oncology services, PET-CT capabilities and surgical specialists.
Associates in Hematology and Oncology, PC
For Raymond Vivacqua, M.D., medical director of the Crozer Regional Cancer Center and chief of Hematology/Oncology at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Chester, the cancer center builds on the existing presence of his practice, in Glen Mills, and offers a convenient and all-encompassing cancer care experience.
“The combination of important cancer care services and radiation oncology in one facility enhances our ability to treat patients in an efficient manner,” says Dr. Vivacqua. “This facility brings together services that help us care for the whole cancer patient.”
Vivacqua’s practice offers patient care, clinical research, screening programs for lung cancer, patient advocacy, genetic counseling, research protocols for lung, prostate and breast cancers, and the Proactive Energy Program (PEP), which helps patients battle side effects of cancer treatments through physical activity and nutrition counseling.
Consultants in Medical Ontology and Hematology, PC
Also represented at the cancer center is Consultants in Medical Ontology and Hematology, PC, known for its commitment to the “medical home” model in which physicians and staff offer a centralized, coordinated home base for cancer patients.
“Just like our three other office locations, our Brinton Lake office is a fully operational Oncology Patient-Centered Medical Home site,” says John Sprandio, M.D., medical director of the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center and chief of Hematology/Oncology. “We can now serve a growing patient population with our spectrum of OPCMH-related services. We’re excited to bring enhanced care to a new group of patients, primary care physicians and specialists.”
Hematology Oncology Associates, PC
Hematology Oncology Associates is opening its fourth office at the Crozer-Keystone Medical Plaza. Oncologist Lee Bogart, M.D., along with Andrew Solan, M.D. and Rashmi Sanjay, M.D., will treat patients there.
“We’ll see patients for regular visits and there’s an infusion room for chemotherapy,” says Dr. Bogart. “The new building is expansive and modern and it’s in a great location near restaurants and shopping.”
In the area of radiation oncology, the cancer centerboasts brand-new equipment, including a Varian Linear accelerator, which features rapid arc technology that improves the speed and precision of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).
This machine assists image-guided radiation therapy and provides multiple forms of imaging, including cone beam CT scans, radiographic, fluoroscopic and ultrasound—all of which help the radiation oncologist locate a tumor more accurately.
“You don’t get more state-of-the-art than this,” says Rachelle Lanciano, M.D., chief of Radiation Oncology at Delaware County Memorial Hospital. “We also have a completely new treatment planning system that’s internet-based so we can share resources and work cooperatively. Our new record and verify systems bring the practice up to date with the latest generation of electronic medical records.”
Dr. Lanciano is especially excited about another piece of technology: a Siemens PET-CT simulator.
“We are one of the earliest facilities in the region—if not the country—to adopt this machine, which gives radiologists assistance in planning radiation beams,” Lanciano says. “Basically, the machine can simulate the patient without moving them, so we can base treatment not just on tumor anatomy but on whether it’s metabolically active.”
The cancer center also features several surgical specialists, inculding Academic Urology (Frank D'Elia, M.D., F.A.C.S., George Dakwar, M.D. and Ilya Volfson, M.D.) and Surgical Care Associates (Mary Lou Patton, M.D., and Robert Guilday, M.D.).
