Breast Cancer Risk and Prevention

Presentation of the incidence of breast cancer and who is high risk for developing breast cancer, focusing on personal and family history and genetic risk factors. Management of high-risk individuals will be discussed, with recommendations for increased monitoring, lifestyle and prevention. Self-breast examination technique may be reviewed. Opportunity exists for individual risk assessment, using the Gail Model, as part of this program.

Discussion of the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Review methods of detection, types of biopsy, and alternatives for surgical treatment. Talk includes discussion of sentinel lymph node biopsy.

The Crozer-Keystone Health System Cancer Program has speakers available to address all aspect of cancer. This includes site-specific cancers, treatment options, symptom management, prevention and early detection, and genetics. There is no charge for these programs. The sponsoring organization must provide the date, time and location, as well as audiovisual equipment as needed and marketing of the program.

Healthy Start

Presentation on Crozer-Keystone Healthy Start, a program for pregnant women and parents with children age 24 months and younger living in Eddystone, Woodlyn, Parkside, Chester, Toby Farms, Upland, Chester Township, Trainer, Marcus Hook, Chichester and Linwood, PA. This free program provides case management, care coordination, social work and health education for enrolled program participants. The program helps enrolled participants to meet identified needs, access a variety of services, navigate systems and manager their lives. New Moms/New Parents Project

Presentation on New Moms/New Parents Project. This program aims to help women understand and prepare for pregnancy as a lifetime goal and to ultimately help them have healthy pregnancies. The project will work with young women to educate them about healthy habits, avoiding risky behaviors and making good decisions while they are young. The message will be conveyed through public service announcements, ads and the Internet, including popular websites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter. The project will work together with Media based ad agency, smells like green, inc., to create a county-wide marketing campaign.
