Student officers from Garnet Valley High School’s 2018 graduating class recently visited Crozer-Chester Medical Center to donate 400 new children’s books collected for young visitors and patients at the medical center.

Books were collected during the month of April as part of the school’s Post Prom efforts, providing high school teens a safe, fun, alcohol-free environment following their Junior Prom.

The students who organized the drive hoped the books donated would allow the children going through a difficult time to experience the small joy of escaping into their imagination through the power of storytelling.

The generous donation was delivered by twelfth-grade students Anish Rana, class secretary and student volunteer at Crozer-Chester Medical Center; Lauren Garrity, treasurer; and Nick Savarese, public relations officer.

A majority of the books were delivered to Crozer-Chester Medical Center’s Emergency Department and Intensive Care Nursery. The remainder will be kept by hospital volunteers and distributed to children as they visit the hospital.
