Patrick Gavin Appointed CEO of Crozer-Keystone Health System; Joan Richards to Retire Effective July 31

Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc. today announced the appointment of Patrick Gavin as Chief Executive Officer of Crozer-Keystone Health System. Gavin, Crozer-Keystone’s current Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, will replace Joan Richards, the system’s longtime President and Chief Executive Officer, who is retiring effective July 31.

Prospect completed its acquisition of Crozer-Keystone Health System on July 1 after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals.

Gavin joined Crozer-Keystone as President of Crozer-Chester Medical Center in 2010. He was named COO and Executive Vice President of Crozer-Keystone in 2012. Since that time, he has continued his role as President of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and has also served as the lead executive for the Crozer-Keystone Health Network, Crozer-Keystone’s provider network. Gavin holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Villanova University, an MBA in information systems from Saint Joseph’s University and a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University.

Richards has been with the health system since 1982 and has served in her current role since January 2007. She held a range of leadership positions within the health system before becoming CEO, including Chief Operating Officer (2000-2007); President of Crozer-Keystone Hospitals (1995-2000); Senior Administrative Officer of the CKHS Health Access Network and Chief Operating Officer of Crozer-Chester Medical Center (1992-1995); Vice President of Patient Services (1988-1992); Vice President of Nursing Services (1985-1988); and Director of Nursing Services (1982-1985). Prior to joining Crozer-Keystone, Richards held positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Lankenau Hospital and the West Jersey Health System.
