She is boarded by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. She has been the recipient of “Top Doctor” recognition from Main Line Today and Castle Connelly Philadelphia Magazine.

Dr. Capalongo is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine. She has spent the past 20 years as an educator of medical students and residents and served in the roles of medical student clerkship director; associate program director of Internal Medicine; director of the Osteopathic Program; and she is currently director of the Crozer-Chester Transitional Residency Program r. During this time, she has had the opportunity to train and graduate hundreds of interns and residents.

“It is a privilege to mentor and educate the next generation of doctors; it is a responsibility I have made a strong commitment to continue throughout my career,” said Capalongo. “My residents work on numerous quality improvement projects in our system and care for thousands of patients in our system. Working both on an inpatient hospital service and maintaining an ambulatory office practice for the past 20 years gives me a broad perspective of the culture of our health care system and the health care environment."

About her new role as President of the combined medical staffs of Crozer, Taylor and Springfield Hospitals, she says, "I look forward to the opportunity to work with senior leadership to support an environment of action and innovation with a commitment to health care integration, collaboration, and alignment of goals to achieve the triple aim,” said Capalongo.

Her committee memberships include the Department of Medicine Peer Review, Graduated Medical Education, Ethics Committee, Medical Staff Quality Committee and Prospect Provider Group IPA Board.

“Dr. Capalongo’s leadership style is characterized as collegial, influential and motivational. Her counsel is sought by peers to collaborate on policy, problem solving and peer coaching,” says Thomas Bader, M.D., chief medical officer for Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Springfield Hospital and Taylor Hospital. Her interests are focused on improving patient management and quality across the care continuum by decreasing variability, enhancing communication and collaboration and increasing value to align with new care delivery models. "We have an outstanding Medical Staff dedicated to providing comprehensive care and cure to our community. I am honored to facilitate collaboration across the system, represent our shared goals and continue the work started by the past officers,” she said

As president of the Medical Staff, the chief administrative officer of the staff, Capalongo will be responsible for communicating and representing the opinions and concerns of the Medical Staff, along with overseeing the Medical Staff’s compliance with the provisions of the bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the staff and of the hospital. Other responsibilities include coordinating staff activities with administration, nursing, and other services and transmitting views and recommendations of the Medical Staff and the Medical Executive Committee on matters of hospital policy, planning, operations and governance to the Board.
