SPRINGFIELD, Pa. — Jeffrey Lehrman, D.P.M., Crozer-Keystone podiatrist, has been awarded the Wound Care Award Scholarship to the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) from the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). The award was presented to him at the APMA conference this past month in Las Vegas. Each year, the APMA chooses only one recipient nationally from its extensive membership for this award; it is presented to a podiatrist who has demonstrated exceptional clinical skills and intense dedication to caring for patients with wounds.

SAWC is the premier conference for wound healing in the country. This award presents the recipient with a scholarship to attend the conference, as well as a plaque and announcement of the recipient’s accomplishments at the event’s opening ceremonies. This year, 1,300 attendees were at the opening ceremony when Lehrman’s award was presented.

Throughout 2014, Lehrman has authored multiple articles related to wound healing and, together with his residents at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, PA, has published research posters on wound healing topics that have been presented at conferences across the nation. He has also traveled all over the country lecturing on various wound healing topics. At this event specifically, in addition to winning the scholarship, Lehrman and one of his residents were there to present a research poster. He says, “A lot of my accomplishments and achievements that allowed me a shot at this award would not have happened without the help of my residents. Working with the residents is my favorite part of the job, and their help on research, writing articles, and publishing research posters allowed me to win this award.”
