Delaware County Memorial Hospital Welcomes Interventional Radiologist Seth Goodman, M.D.
Seth Goodman, M.D.
DREXEL HILL, Pa. – The Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology at Delaware County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) in Drexel Hill recently welcomed interventional radiologist Seth Goodman, M.D., to its medical staff. Goodman joins an established team of DCMH physicians dedicated to this practice area—which uses minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases and conditions.
Goodman, who is board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology, performs a number of interventional procedures at DCMH, including uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), also known as uterine artery embolization. This outpatient therapy uses medical imaging to access and treat fibroid tumors in the uterus, without having to use invasive surgery. For patients, this means shorter recovery times and reduced risk of complications.
In addition to UFE, Goodman performs a number of other procedures, including but not limited to:
- Chemoembolization, a cancer treatment that is used to administer targeted chemotherapy and restrict blood supply to a tumor.
- Peripheral arterial treatments for blocked and narrowed arteries in the legs.
- Varicocele embolization, an alternative to surgery for men with varicocele—a condition that can cause pain and infertility.
- Dialysis graft declotting, which is used to improve blood flow for certain dialysis patients.
- Procedures to manage deep and superficial venous diseases, including lysis therapy for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism.
Most of the procedures Goodman performs are done on an outpatient basis, although a one-night hospital stay is required for certain procedures.
“We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Goodman join our staff and bring his state-of-the-art procedures to Delaware County Memorial Hospital,” says Thomas A. DiLiberto, D.O., chairman of Radiology at DCMH. “He brings great experience and enthusiasm to the department and has already had a positive impact on patient care at DCMH.”
Goodman says his goal is to support the hospital in making interventional radiology services more accessible to area residents. “It’s important for patients in our community to know that they don’t have to travel into the city or further to have access to these advanced procedures,” he says. “They can be treated right here in Delaware County and feel good knowing that they are receiving exceptional care.”
Goodman’s office is located on the fourth floor at DCMH, just steps away from the hospital’s state-of-the-art interventional radiology and vascular laboratory, where interventional procedures such as uterine fibroid embolization and chemoembolization are performed.
