4th Annual Heel the Burn Walk/Run Benefits Crozer Burn Center

The 4th Annual Heel the Burn Walk/Run attracted hundreds of participants on June 9 in an effort to raise money for the Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. The event, held at Williamstown High School, Williamstown, N.J., featured a 5K run, a 1 mile walk and a “kid’s fun run.”  Prizes were awarded to the top finishers. Attendees enjoyed refreshments and music.

  • (Left to right) Cindy Reigart, Joan Zekonis, Deb Love and Kathy Lehman members of the Burn Team came out to provide information and support for the event.
  • Hundreds come out to participate in the annual “Heel the Burn 5K Run/Walk.”

The Heel the Burn Walk/Run was created by Washington Township., NJ, resident Jackie Roberts. During the summer of 2008, Roberts spent almost five days in the Crozer Burn Center as a patient. She put the event together as a way to support those who provided her with excellent care and to celebrate other burn survivors.

Crozer’s Burn Center has treated over 11,000 pediatric and adult patients since its beginnings in November 1973 and has created an international reputation for excellence in holistic burn care. In addition, the Center is the first in suburban Philadelphia to meet the criteria of the American Burn Association’s Burn Center Verification/ Consultation Program, which is the highest standard of care for burn patients approved by the American College of Physicians.
