Taylor Hospital Names Employee and Manager of the Year

RIDLEY PARK, PA Taylor Hospital presented its Employee of the Year and Manager of the Year awards during the hospital’s annual Employee Service Awards ceremony.

Margaret (Peg) McQuade, from the Emergency Department, was named Employee of the Year. She was the Employee of the Month in October 2012. Peg has been a member of the Taylor Hospital family for 25 years. She started her career as a unit secretary in the Emergency Department in 1988 and is still there today. Peg is an exemplary employee who is always willing to help out when needed. She is dedicated to Taylor Hospital and is loved by all her coworkers.

Peg is an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, and even though she “bleeds green, her favorite color is purple. She resides in Holmes and enjoys spending time with her friends and family, including two grandchildren.

Hank Karwoski, nursing supervisor, was chosen as Taylor’s Manager of the Year. He served as Manager of the Quarter from September through November 2012. Hank has been a part of the Crozer-Keystone family since 2004. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Nursing from LaSalle University and has been a registered nurse for over 30 years.

Hank started his Crozer-Keystone career as a nurse supervisor at Springfield Hospital. He transferred to Taylor Hospital in January 2010 and has held his position as night shift supervisor ever since. Hank is a valued member of Taylor’s management staff. His dedication, hard work and commitment to the hospital’s patients and staff are seen and appreciated by many.

Hank and his wife reside in Garnet Valley. He is the proud father of four children and enjoys spending time with his family and parents. He loves his pug dogs, decorating for Halloween, spending time at the beach and homemade salsa-making contests with his brother.

In addition, at the service awards celebration, Taylor honored the 2013 Horace Furness Taylor Physician Service Excellence Award recipient, John Colombo, M.D. Dr. Colombo, who is chief of Hospital Medicine for Crozer-Keystone Health System, has been a member of the Medical and Dental Staff since 1985.
