Free Panel Discussion about Diabetes with NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins
A free panel discussion about pre-diabetes and diabetes with NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 3 p.m. at Community Hospital, 1st Floor Conference Room, 2600 West Ninth Street, Chester. The event, which is being presented by the Crozer-Keystone Center for Diabetes in collaboration with Novo Nordisk, is free and is appropriate for pre-diabetics and diabetics, support persons and family members.
The panel discussion will focus on nutrition and diabetes prevention, exercise and its relationship with diabetes, obesity and its relationship to insulin resistance, and understanding diabetes terminology. Refreshments will be available.
Wilkins, who has type 2 diabetes, will discuss a his experiences of living with the disease and his recommendations for following a healthy lifestyle. The nine-time NBA All-Star, nicknamed the “Human Highlight Film,” currently serves at the Atlanta Hawks’ Vice President of Basketball. After the presentation, Wilkins will stay and greet attendees.
