DCMH A Proud Sponsor of Elwyn’s Teddy Bedrossian Ski-a-Thon

Drexel Hill, Pa. – If you like to ski and want to help a worthy cause, hit the slopes at Bear Creek Ski Resort on March 2 for the Third Annual Teddy Bedrossian Ski-a-Thon. Proceeds from the event will help fund a new school building for children with special needs at the Elwyn Davidson School in Media. Delaware County Memorial Hospital is proud to once again be a sponsor of this special event. Bear Creek Mountain Resort is located at 101 Doe Mountain Lane, Macungie, Pa.

The Ski-a-Thon was founded in memory of Teddy Bedrossian, the late son of Edward Bedrossian Jr., M.D., chief of the Section of Ophthalmology at DCMH. Teddy was a blond-haired, blue-eyed medically fragile special needs boy. Although doctors predicted he would not live past 4 months, he defied the odds and lived to the age of 18. Teddy passed away in 2008 of kidney failure. He was strong and courageous throughout his medical journey. His presence brought an indescribable richness to everyone he met. Unable to talk or hear, he did this through acts of kindness and a contagious smile. He touched the lives of so many at Elwyn. A tree was planted in his memory by his classmates.

Event check-in is from 8 to 11 a.m. and the Ski-a-Thon from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a reception from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and an awards ceremony from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Awards will be presented for the most creative team name, most sponsorship dollars (individual and team), funkiest snow hat, and most runs (individual and team). There will also be a silent auction with great prizes and a 50/50 raffle.

Not into skiing or snowboarding? You can still support Elwyn while enjoying a relaxing treatment at the Spa at Bear Creek.

Fees are $150 per individual skier and $500 for a team of four. Students pay $125 per person and $400 for a team of four. Participants receive a full-day lift ticket, line-cutting privileges, event T-shirt, discounted ski rentals, music during the event, and a luncheon and awards ceremony.
