On the request of the Delaware County Tobacco Free Coalition, the Delaware County Council recognized the Great American Smokeout (Nov. 15) with a proclamation at the Council's recent meeting on Nov. 14 in Glenolden.
The Great American Smokeout is an annual event sponsored by the American Cancer Society to encourage smokers to refrain from smoking for at least a day.
Delaware County Council also recognized Glenolden for joining in the fight against second-hand smoke by passing a resolution borough to make park and recreational areas in Glenolden smoke-free through the Young Lungs at Play initiative.
Melissa Maier from Crozer-Keystone's Community Health Education Department was on hand for the proclamation as part of the Tobacco Free Coalition. Ellen Williams from Community Health Education is co-chair of the Coalition.
