Crozer-Keystone Health System Represented at the Annual Healthcare Improvement Foundations’ Patient Safety Awards

On March 14th, two teams from Crozer-Keystone Health System were invited to display their patient safety improvement projects at the annual Healthcare Improvement Foundation’s Patient Safety Awards. The projects, which originated from Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Delaware County Memorial Hospital, both ranked among the top 10 projects at the event.

The Healthcare Improvement Foundation has awarded providers with recognition of their advances in patient safety for 10 years.

The team from Crozer-Chester Medical Center presented “An Innovative Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI) Reduction Strategy that Sustains Improved Total Parenteral (TPN) Utilization.” The authors of the project included Andrea McHugh, M.A., R.D., LDN, Elizabeth Drozd, M.S., MT(ASCP)SBB, Richard Pacitti, PharmD, MBA, Christine Young, MBA, MT, CIC, and Robert Fox, R.N., MSN.

The team from Delaware County Memorial Hospital presented “Decreasing Door to Balloon (D2B) time for Patients Presenting to Non PCI Emergency Department.” The authors for this project included: Terri Hoffecker, M.S.N., Scott Dunbar, Tim Mengel, MBA, Mary Jo Kernaghan, B.S.N., CEN, Joby Kolsun, M.D., Ancil Jones, M.D., and Kathy Denny, R.N.

Both teams displayed their projects at the Partnership for Patient Care Annual Leadership Summit in Philadelphia, which was attended by many regional hospital leaders.
