Crozer-Keystone's Senior Health Services Department to Offer Programs for Local Seniors in April

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. – Crozer-Keystone Health System’s Senior Health Services Department will offer a number of informational programs in April.

Dining at Dusk: Crozer-Keystone is proud to present “Dining at Dusk,” a low-cost dining program that offers free lectures geared toward seniors. Join us for these events in April: 

  • Eye See You: New Techniques and Technology of Cataract Surgery, featuring John Witherell, M.D., Crozer-Keystone Ophthalmologist. Thursday, April 1, 5-7 p.m., Crozer-Chester Medical Center Cafeteria, located at One Medical Center Blvd., Upland. Meal costs $6.00 and includes entrée, roll, choice of two sides, dessert and a fountain drink. Free parking is also included.   • Keeping Control of Your Medical Decisions, featuring Linda Anderson, JD, LLM, CELA, and Dana McBride Breslin, Esq., CELA, Elder Law Attorneys, CK Village. Thursday, April 15, 5-7 p.m., Springfield Hospital, Café Carl, located at 190 W. Sproul Road, Springfield. Meal costs $6.00 and will include rosemary chicken, wild rice, mixed vegetables, tossed salad, dinner roll, dessert, coffee, tea, or a fountain drink. Free parking is also included.   • A Good Night’s Sleep: Understanding Sleep and Aging, featuring Kelly Brown, M.D., CKHS Neurologist and Physician for the Crozer-Keystone Sleep Center at Taylor Hospital. Wednesday, April 21, 5-7 p.m., Taylor Hospital Cafeteria, located at 175 E. Chester Pike, Ridley Park. Meal costs $6.00 and includes entrée, roll, choice of two sides, dessert and a fountain drink. Physician Lecture Series: Senior Health Services offers the Physician Lecture Series at several Delaware County locations. Join us for these events in April:  

  • You’re So “Vein”: Understanding Venous Disease, featuring Marat Goldenberg, M.D., CKHS Vascular Surgeon. Thursday, April 8, 5:30 p.m., Media Borough Hall, Mansion Parlor Room, 301 N. Jackson Street, Media. Call 1-800-CK-HEALTH (1-800-254-3258) for more information and to register. 

Senior Line Dancing Event: Participants 50 years of age and older are invited to attend Crozer-Keystone Senior Health Services’ Line Dancing Event, which will be held on Friday, April 16, from 7-9 p.m. at the Healthplex® Sports Club at Springfield Hospital. The cost is $10 per person, and that includes light refreshments. Free parking is also provided. All dance participants should wear rubber-soled shoes. Wake Up and Work Out: Start your day the healthy way! Come join us as Crozer-Keystone Senior Health Services and the Healthplex® Sports Club provide seniors with an opportunity to jump start their day by participating in structured health and wellness programs, while offering an affordable balanced breakfast. Participants will also benefit from the support of CKHS staff that will assist in coordinating medical appointments, as well as provide better access to appropriate medical services.

Program will be offered on Tuesday, April 6, topic will be “Breathing Through the Ages: Pulmonary Rehabilitation.” A healthy breakfast, beginning at 7:45 a.m., may be purchased for $3 or less; followed by a 30-minute lecture, both to be held in Café Carl at Springfield Hospital. A 45-minute physical fitness session will then be led by a member of the Healthplex® team. Free garage parking. Call 1-800-CK-HEALTH (1-800-254-3258) for more information and to register. 

AARP Defensive Driving: An eight-hour driving safety course held on two days that can help you improve your driving skills and save you money on insurance. Courses will be held on Tuesday, April 6 and Friday, April 9, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. in the Lower Level Conference Room of Springfield Hospital; Friday, April 9 and Monday, April 12, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. in the Silberman Center of Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Cost of the course is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members, with check made payable to AARP. CKHS Support Groups: CKHS offers support groups for a variety of conditions, including cancer, diabetes, sleep, stroke and more. For more information or to register for a support group, call 1-800-CKHS-KEY (1-800-254-7539).

Crozer-Keystone Sleep Disorders Education and Support Group: These meetings are for people who suspect that they have a sleep disorder or have already been diagnosed. Participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, new ideas and support with others who may be or have been diagnosed with a sleep disorder. Learn about new state-of-the-art treatment options and to ask questions about your sleep-related problems. The meetings will be held from 6-7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every other month in the 1st Floor Conference Room at Springfield Hospital, located at 190 W. Sproul Rd., in Springfield.
