Services for Pregnant and Post-partum Women

Crozer-Keystone Center for Diabetes: The Crozer-Keystone Center for Diabetes offers a Gestational Diabetes class every Thursday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Center. The class is given by a certified diabetes educator and explains what gestational diabetes is, how it affects the fetus and Mom, how it affects the labor and delivery process, how to use a glucometer to take blood sugars and how often to test, and how to test for ketones. Nutrition guidelines/calorie counts for the gestational diabetic Mom are taught by a registered dietitian. Meters are also available for those women who do not have one; inquire at the Center. Call (610) 328-8920 for more information or to register for an upcoming class.

This program is fee-based, however, insurance carriers cover the cost.

Crozer-Keystone Mom/Baby Connection: Upon returning home from the hospital with your new bundle of joy, you may find yourself saying, “Now what?”

Understanding that there are many questions and concerns as you begin your journey in parenthood, Crozer-Keystone Health System offers The Mom/Baby Connection to families who deliver at our hospitals (Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Delaware County Memorial Hospital).

Part of the Crozer-Keystone Home Care department, The Mom/Baby Connection provides in-home nursing visits to new parents and their babies within a few days of discharge from the hospital.

Mom/Baby Connection nurses are experienced in Maternal/Child medicine and provide services to both mom and baby. Among the services provided are bili tests, wound care, perineum checks and breastfeeding help for moms, and complete health and feeding evaluations for newborns. Nurses can also check for jaundice in the babies as well as other illnesses.

Mom/Baby Connection visits are covered by most insurance plans. For more information, call (610) 638-1500.

Moms in Motion: For pregnant women, staying active can help relieve many of pregnancy’s discomforts, while exercising after pregnancy can help new moms relieve stress and regain their pre-pregnancy fitness. For these reasons and more, the Healthplex® Sports Club in Springfield offers a range of exercise classes for prenatal and postpartum mothers. Classes include “Aqua Mom,” “Prenatal Pilates,” “Struttin’ Strollers” and more. The classes are available to both members and non-members of the club. Registration is required. For more information, call (610) 328-8874.
