Screening for Early Detection of Lung Cancer
The most effective lung cancer treatment occurs when cancer is caught early. To help the most at-risk individuals, Crozer-Keystone provides low-cost lung cancer screenings ($125) for qualifying individuals. To be eligible, patients must have a physician’s order and must meet the following criteria:
- Individuals must be between the ages of 55 and 74 who are current or former smokers with at least a 30 pack year smoking history (a “pack year” is the number of packs smoked daily multiplied by the number of years smoking; therefore, an eligible person could have smoked one pack a day for 30 years; or two packs a day for 15 years, etc.).
- Former smokers must have quit within the last 15 years.
Patients should not have a history of any form of cancer within the last five years.
