  • A group of choir students from Prendie and Bonner sang uplifting songs during the program.

On May 9, Delaware County Memorial Hospital held a dedication ceremony for the Nicole Marie Gallo Memorial Garden. The garden, which spans the entire front of the hospital’s property on Lansdowne Avenue, marks the area where Gallo, then 19, was struck and killed by a motorist on August 14, 2009. The garden is adorned with grasses, perennials in Nicole’s favorite color — pink, and a Japanese maple, which was Nicole’s favorite tree.

DCMH administration and staff were joined by Nicole’s parents, Steve and Donna Gallo; the Honorable Thomas Micozzie, mayor of Upper Darby; administrators and students of Archbishop Prendergast and Monsignor Bonner high schools; and members of Upper Darby Council and police department, including Tom Judge and Superintendant Michael Chitwood.
