Crozer-Chester Medical Center Receives Breast MRI Accreditation from the American College of Radiology
Crozer-Chester Medical Center was recently awarded a three-year term of accreditation in breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the result of a review by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the largest and oldest imaging accrediting body in the United States.
The ACR seal of accreditation recognizes the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting the ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards. In order to receive the ACR accreditation seal, image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are taken into consideration. The findings are then reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation.
With this accreditation, the MRI facilities at Crozer-Chester Medical Center will be provided with peer reviews and constructive feedback on the equipment, quality control, safety policies and staff’s qualifications to ensure that patients receive the best care possible.
“We’re very proud that we’ve been recognized with this accreditation. It is another validation of our commitment to excellence in the areas of medical imaging and breast care,” said Joseph R. Stock, M.D., chairman of the Department of Radiology at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
Crozer has previously been named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by ACR. In addition, Crozer has received disease-specific certification for breast cancer care by The Joint Commission, and has been recognized by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Crozer also offers MRI-guided breast biopsy.
“We have an outstanding, caring team providing breast imaging services at Crozer, and we are fortunate to be recognized for excellence by several national organizations. Congratulations to our entire team on this latest honor,” says C. Amy Wilson, M.D., director of Breast Imaging at Crozer.
The medical center offers an “open bore” MRI machine, which helps patients feel more at ease. The medical center has also taken a number of steps to enhance patient safety.
In addition to Crozer, Crozer-Keystone offers breast MRI services at Brinton Lake Imaging at the Crozer Medical Plaza at Brinton Lake and Delaware County Memorial Hospital, as well as other MRI services at Taylor Hospital, and Media Medical Imaging at Media Medical Plaza.
