Sigmund Jenssen, M.D., a board-certified neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist, was recently named chief of the Section of Neurology at Delaware County Memorial Hospital. He succeeds Joseph Lubeck, D.O., who will continue to see patients in his neurology office and serve as medical director of the DCMH Stroke Committee.

Jenssen has been a member of the DCMH medical staff since 2009. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society, and the Philadelphia Neurological Society. He also belongs to the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology.

“I would like to welcome Dr. Jenssen to his new role at DCMH,” says Bill McCune, president of DCMH. “He has excellent clinical skills and credentials. The patients and staff of our hospital will benefit greatly from Dr. Jenssen’s experience, contributions and new ideas.”

Jenssen earned his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, in Spain. He completed his residency in Neurology at George Washington University, and earned a fellowship in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology at Thomas Jefferson University.

Jenssen is also an assistant professor of Neurology at Drexel University College of Medicine. He is a reviewer for various medical journals and is a widely published author in peer-reviewed journals.

“My goal as a chief of Neurology is to assure that the neurology care that is provided at DCMH holds a high standard, and that the coverage is sufficient and reasonable. In addition, we hope to expand the ambulatory services,” Jenssen says.

In addition to his duties as chief, Jenssen will continue to see patients as part of HAN Neurology, located in Suite 300 of the Medical Office Building at Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Drexel Hill. He specializes in neurology, neurophysiology, epilepsy and EEG. To schedule an appointment, call (610) 394-4731.
