ChesPenn ‘Fun and Fitness’ Program Enjoys Another Successful Year

ChesPenn Health Services held its Seventh Annual “Fun and Fitness” program closing ceremony at Community Hospital on May 5.

The goal of this program is to address the problem of obesity in children between the ages of 8 and 12 by increasing the level of general fitness and weight management. The program components include: a minimum of three assessments, games and incentives, nutrition guidance, character-building activities and parental/family involvement.

In addition, field trips are scheduled throughout the program year to expose participants to venues they may not otherwise experience. This year, trips included the Franklin Institute, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, Phoenix Field Farm (Glen Mills), a Delaware County Symphony Chamber and Jazz Concert at Neumann College, a performance of the musical Oklahoma presented by the Rose Valley Chorus and an orchestra, and the Adventure Aquarium (Camden).
