CKHS Earns Participation Award from Susan G. Komen Foundation

For the second consecutive year, Crozer-Keystone won the Sandy Richman award from the Susan G. Komen Foundation for having the most team members in a corporate company participate in the Race for the Cure.

The Race for the Cure is an event that takes place every year on Mother’s Day to support and raise money for breast cancer awareness. This year, 255 peopled joined the Crozer-Keystone Team with Barbara Morley as captain and participated in the event to support those who have lost or won the battle with breast cancer. Over 50,000 people attended the event this year in Philadelphia on May 9. Crozer-Keystone has been participating in the Race for the Cure for over 15 years.

Crozer-Keystone has partnered with the Philadelphia affiliate for Komen since 2002. Through Komen’s generosity, Crozer-Keystone hospitals have been able to provide screening mammograms and treatment for uninsured and underinsured women, breast health education to staff and patients, and outreach programs and educational resources to the community.

Marie DeStefano, administrative director of Oncology for Crozer-Keystone Health System, was extremely pleased with the amount of employees that participated this year in the Race for the Cure.

“By having a large number of Crozer-Keystone representatives participate in the race this year, we were once again able to give back to the Komen Foundation, which has done so much for our health system over the years,” DeStefano says.

Crozer-Keystone made it convenient for employees to sign up for the event by offering on-site registration weeks before the race was scheduled.
