Louis Parrott, M.D., Ph.D., Named Medical Director of Community Hospital

Louis Parrott, M.D., Ph.D. was recently named medical director at Community Hospital.

A board-certified psychiatrist, Parrott is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He also holds a Ph.D. in the Molecular and Cellular Basis of Disease from Case Western Reserve University. He completed his residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and has extensive experience as a psychiatrist in the Philadelphia region.

“I am very excited about being named medical director for Community Hospital. I am eager to meet the responsibilities of working one on one with both patients and medical staff, giving each person individualized attention to help them grow and evolve,” Parrott says.

Additionally, he specializes in individual psychotherapy and the pharmacological treatment of psychiatric disorders. Recently he has concentrated his focus on medication management of psychiatric illness in the setting of drug-related disorders, including treatment of opiate dependency with buprenorphine. At Crozer-Chester Medical Center, he has held attending-level positions on the Consult-Liaison Team, in the Crisis Center, in the Psychotherapy practice and in the Intensive Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Program. Additionally, he has had experience with the insurance appeals process while working with Executive Health Resources. Prior to arrival at Crozer, he was employed at the Hall Mercer Community Mental Health Center and the Crisis Response Center at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He has also been a clinical associate in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania.
