Kelsey grew up in Broomall, PA. She studied Biology and Spanish at the University of Delaware, which is where she decided that she wanted to attend medical school. She was attracted to the tenants of Osteopathic Medicine, and found that PCOM was a great fit for her.

At PCOM, Kelsey was involved in community service projects that helped her realize that a career in Primary Care was right for her. During her fourth year, Kelsey rotated through Crozer’s Family Medicine Program and was impressed with the training, the people, and the opportunities.

When she’s not at work, Kelsey can be found outside hiking, kayaking, or just enjoying the view. She loves spending time with her family and friends.

Christle C. Guevarra, D.O., M.S.

Medical Education:
Western University of Health Sciences, COMP
Pomona, CA

Undergraduate Education:
San Francisco State University
San Francisco, CA

Contact:
Christle.guevarra@crozer.org

Christle both grew up and completed her undergraduate work in the San Francisco Bay Area. During her undergraduate education, she discovered a love of organic chemistry and type-2 diabetes research via her undergraduate research projects. Her aspirations of synthesizing molecules led her to the University of Wisconsin, where she worked with Dr. Richard Hsung on the total synthesis of the molecule (+)-aigialospirol. After receiving her Master’s in Chemistry, Christle realized that her true passions were more aligned with lifestyle medicine and prevention than they were with bench science, and she enrolled in a post-baccalaureate pre-med program at Dominican University. She also worked as an HIV counselor within her local Chicago community and taught organic chemistry at the university level.

In her time at Western University of Health Sciences for medical school, her passion for and involvement in prevention and teaching continued to expand. She led nutrition and exercise workshops within the Pomona Unified School District and volunteered at the Montclair Clinic, providing medical care to uninsured patients. She was also awarded the pre-doctoral OMM teaching fellowship, where she received additional training in osteopathic manipulative medicine.

Christle’s interest in family medicine derives from her desires in applying a continuity of care, treating patients of all ages and walks of life, and promoting health as a lifestyle. During her 4th-year family medicine clerkship at Crozer-Keystone Medical Center, she was quickly drawn to the program via its diverse patient population, sports medicine and teaching opportunities, and supportive learning environment. She looks forward to being a part of the Crozer Family Medicine team and further developing her skill set to eventually fulfill her dream of becoming a committed family medicine physician in the community.

Outside of her work, Christle enjoys spending time with her fiancé Mike (soon-to-be husband in May 2018), going to the gym to lift heavy weights, and competing in the sport of powerlifting.

Contact:
Kara.guisinger@crozer.org

Kara grew up mostly between Columbus and Cincinnati but has lived in multiple other Ohio cities over the years as well. She spent her first two years of college, the first of which in Chicago, studying fine art and design, but ultimately decided to pursue medicine by way of a degree in Food and Nutrition. This detour was hardly for naught as she gained through her wonderful fiancé, Scott, and a group of non-medical friends to keep her in touch with her creative side.

She was drawn to medicine as a way to apply creativity to working with and helping others and thus, combined with her exposure through her father, an osteopathic family physician, felt the osteopathic philosophy was best aligned with her ideals, given its holistic outlook. She has always been committed to primary care, enjoying the long-term personal relationships with patients it offers and its focus on preventive care. She is especially interested in women's health, urban underserved care, addiction and palliative medicine.

When outside the clinic, Kara enjoys traveling, especially in the outdoors where she can hike, camp and bike. When inside, she likes to work on her sewing skills and is happiest when surrounded by good friends cooking a delicious meal together.

While there, he developed a strong passion for osteopathic manipulative medicine, acupuncture, and “hands on healing”. He has taught manipulations to the medical staff of local professional sports teams and even overseas in Frankfurt, Germany. He hopes to bring this passion and skill set to the people of the Delaware County community. For him, family medicine is a way to give patients ownership of their health by bringing a new level of collaboration and awareness on their road to wellness.

Matt enjoys the beach as his sanctuary, where he loves surfing the waves of the Jersey coast. He is a life-long skateboarder with a part-time yoga obsession. As an avid lover of Mother Nature you can often find him rock climbing, camping, or fishing whenever he can steal a date with her. I was born and raised in Northern California and have spent some time in Southern California. I studied Biochemistry at University of California, Los Angeles. There, I had the opportunity to work closely with primary care doctors that were great advocates for community health. I witnessed the significant health disparities in medically under severe areas and it has shaped my path to this point. I moved across the country to study at Howard University College of Medicine where I worked with physicians of unparalleled commitment to community medicine. These experiences, as well as my natural curiosity to explore the various disciplines of medicine, have made Family Medicine a great fit for me.

My interests outside of medicine are equally varied. Perhaps some of my most enjoyable hobbies are getting out into nature and hiking. The east coast has shown me some of the most beautiful sceneries and dynamic seasons. Currently, I have a very short, traffic free, commute to work from Philadelphia. It is a beautiful city with plenty of hiking trails close to downtown and a young nightlife. I am looking forward to the upcoming, developing my career as a strong community advocate while living in a great location.
