CKHS News

Below are brief announcements about some new Crozer-Keystone programs. The programs have integral nursing involvement, and nursing awareness of these programs is important as we assist our patients in getting appropriate and needed services.

Crozer-Keystone Regional Kidney Transplant Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center

Crozer-Chester Medical Center was approved by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) to establish a kidney transplant program. The new Crozer-Keystone Regional Kidney Transplant Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center is now accepting candidates for transplants and live donations.

To learn more about the program, or to speak with a member of our team, call 610-619-8420. You can also learn more at the program’s new comprehensive website, www.crozerkidney.org, which contains a range of information for potential patients, referring physicians and more.

Crozer Medical Plaza at Brinton Lake and Crozer-Keystone Regional Cancer Center

Crozer-Keystone recently opened the Crozer Medical Plaza and Regional Cancer Center, 500 Evergreen Drive in Glen Mills. Joining the Crozer Medical Plaza at Brinton Lake and the Crozer Health Pavilion at Brinton Lake, the new facility continues to expand patient care services in western Delaware County.

The Crozer Medical Plaza and Crozer-Keystone Regional Cancer Center houses a cancer center that includes three separate oncology practices, radiation oncology services, a PET-CT scanner, urology and a range of patient-friendly services, such as a personal appearance enhancement center. The building also features an endoscopy center as well as specialty practices in gastroenterology, pulmonary medicine, behavioral health, dermatology, cardiology and more. Practices opened in December 2011 and will continue to open in early 2012. For more information, visit www.crozeratthelake.org.

Inpatient Hospice Unit at Taylor Hospital

For nearly 30 years, CKHS has operated a successful home-based hospice service. Now, with the addition of a 10-bed inpatient unit — the Crozer-Keystone Hospice Residence at Taylor Hospital — Crozer-Keystone can offer these services to patients in our communities who are terminally ill but require hospitalization. The unit at Taylor, which opened its doors in January, offers generously sized patient rooms tastefully decorated to simulate a home-like environment. The unit also has an activity room, dining room, laundry room, kitchenette and guest shower. For more information, click on the Services tab at www.crozerkeystone.org and select Home Care and Hospice.

Pediatric Sleep Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center

Crozer-Keystone Sleep Centers recently unveiled the Pediatric Sleep Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Led by pediatric pulmonologist and medical director Vatsala Ramprasad, M.D., the pediatric sleep center serves the needs of children ages 6 months to 16 years with problems such as sleep apnea, sleep walking, insomnia, night terrors and more. To make an appointment with Ramprasad, call (610) 619-7410. To learn more about the Crozer-Keystone Sleep Centers, call 1-888-SLEEP-03 (1-888-753-3703) or visit sleepcenters.crozerkeystone.org.

Behavioral Health

The new 1 Southeast Medical/Surgical Behavioral Health Unit at Crozer-Chester Medical Center provides care to patients with acute medical/surgical diagnoses who also have behavioral issues. The unit is equipped with all of the equipment and amenities that are needed to safely care for these patients. Care is provided by a team of physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, patient care techs, pharmacists and ancillary staff who work collaboratively with the patients and family members to return them to their optimal level of functioning, both physically and mentally. To refer a patient to the unit, contact a Crozer patient flow coordinator at 1-877-2-GET-BED (877-243-8233).
