Single Medical Benefits Administrator Chosen for Noble Health Alliance

CKHS and our partners in Noble Health Alliance have chosen Independence Blue Cross (IBC) to administer the Members’ medical benefits plans.

Because each Noble Member currently has its own medical benefits administrator and plan year, the transition to IBC as our single administrator will affect each Member a little differently. For CKHS (and Einstein Healthcare Network), which has open enrollment this fall, the transition will take effect on January 1, 2015. For Abington Health and Aria Health, which will have their open enrollment next spring, the transition will take effect on July 1, 2015. Aria Health already uses IBC as its medical benefits administrator.

The decision to select a single administrator provides a number of advantages to each Noble Member and its employees. A single administrator will help us implement the new “Noble tier” of benefits in each Member’s plan. This new tier provides CKHS employees a lower cost option should you need care outside of the CKHS system. If the medical services you need are not available at either CKHS or other Noble Members, IBC has an extensive network of participating providers throughout the region.

By selecting IBC in common, the Members of Noble Health Alliance have also been able to benefit from better pricing that would not have been available to any single Member. Our partnership with IBC represents an important milestone in Noble Health Alliance’s development.

In the months leading to open enrollment, we will provide details about IBC and materials to support your decision-making about medical benefits.
