Description

The Department of Pediatrics at Crozer-Chester Medical Center hosts an annual fall conference titled the David Baker Day Pediatric Lecture Series. This conference is a tribute to Dr. David Baker who joined Crozer-Chester Medical Center in 1975, as the Pediatric Department’s Director of Education.

Additionally, Dr. Baker was actively involved in developing the pediatric residency program. In 1995 and in 1997, he received the Hahnemann/Allegheny University School of Medicine Dean’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching. He was also inducted into the Philadelphia Pediatric Society’s Hall of Fame.

Dr. Baker also had a special place in his heart for the children of Chester. Besides taking care of them as their doctor, complete with house calls, he served on the board of ChesPenn Health Services and as medical advisor to many organizations including the Variety Club Camps and Delaware County Head Start.

In honor of the late Dr. Baker, each year the pediatric attendings vote on a graduating pediatric resident to be the recipient of the David Baker, M.D., Memorial Award which is presented in June of each year at their graduation. As in years past, this award is given to the resident who best exemplifies Dr. Baker’s excellence as a teacher, dedicated physician and child advocate.
