Our goal is to offer our tennis-playing members and guests the highest level of personal attention attainable while providing a comprehensive year-round program. Our Tennis Professionals will strive to ensure that your time spent during private lessons, group clinics, and Interclub matches is rewarding and instructional as possible. Our forward-thinking staff has the desire and ability to challenge and motivate every level of junior to adult tennis player.
The Healthplex® Tennis Department offers a wide-range of personalized instruction packages. Private, semi-private and three or four plus pro instruction is available with any of our professionals. Appointments and fee information is available by downloading our Private Lessons Brochure.

Healthplex® Tennis 2012-13
The philosophy of the Healthplex® Sports Club Tennis Department is to provide every tennis player with a positive learning experience in a highly motivating atmosphere through quality instruction and programming. We offer a range of programs for players of all ages and skill levels.
Clinic Dates, 7 Week Sessions
Session I: Sept. 10 - Oct. 27, 2012
Session II: Oct. 29 - Dec. 15, 2012
Session III: Jan. 7 – Feb. 23, 2013
Session IV: Feb. 25 - Apr.13, 2013
Session V: Apr. 15 – June 1, 2013
Junior Programs
- Due to the popularity of our junior clinics, early registration is important.
- Registration will be accommodated on a first come/ first serve basis.
- Register and pay for 3 consecutive sessions and receive a 10% discount.
- For members only we offer 10% off the 2nd & 3rd child. Discount will be taken off the least expensive clinic.
- Due to limited space and the various levels of clinics, we cannot accommodate makeup classes.

Junior Development Program
The junior development program is designed to introduce children to tennis in a fun, structured, and progressive system. The JDP program follows the parameters of the USTA 10-Under Tennis system of modified court sizes and larger, slower tennis balls to help children learn the skills necessary to become great tennis players. The focus of all JDP sessions is to teach athletic and tennis specific skills that will help children become better athletes and tennis players.
Red Ball Tennis (4-6 yrs. old)
- Monday, 4:30-5:15 p.m.
- Wednesday, 4:30-5:15 p.m.
- Saturday, 10:15-11:00 p.m.
- Cost: $90 Members/$125 Non-members
Red balls and 36 ft court. Sessions are 45 minutes in length. Designed for young players just getting into the game. Focus is on developing athletic foundation of movement, balance, & coordination. Tennis skills include; learning basic strokes, rules, parts of the court.
Main Objective: FUN!
Orange Ball Tennis (7-9 yrs. old)
- Monday, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
- Saturday, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
- Cost: $105 Members/$155 Non-members
Orange balls & 60 ft court. Sessions are 1 hour in length. Designed for young players ready to move up to the 60 ft court. Focus is on stroke refinement, rally skills & introductory point play.
Main Objective: Create foundation for future tennis development.
Green Ball Tennis (10-12 yrs. old)
- Monday, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
- Saturday, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
- Cost: $105 Members/$155 Non-members
Green Dot balls/Yellow balls & full court. Sessions are 1 hours in length. Designed for players who are ready to practice on the full size court. Sessions will use a mix of balls and training techniques designed to maximize learning and rallying ability. Focus is on continued stroke refinement, use of proper grips, footwork, movement, rally skills, shot selection, and point play.
Main Objective: Prepare players for entry into competitive level tennis.
Teen Developmental Tennis (13 yrs. & Up)
- Saturday 1:30-3:00
- Cost: $155 Members/$230 Non-members
Green Dot balls/Yellow balls & full court. Sessions are 1.5 hours in length. Focus on learning fundamentals of tennis: strokes, rally skills, movement. Designed for teenage players looking for a fun atmosphere to learn and practice strokes, point play, and matches
Main objective: Teach teens to be active & healthy, while learning to love a sport that can be played for a lifetime.
Junior Competitive Program
Competitive training at the Healthplex is designed by experienced coaches and follows the principles of the USTA High Performance Coaching Program. Training sessions are designed to help serious, tournament level players prepare themselves for high level tournament and team tennis competition. Sessions include hand & racquet fed drilling, live ball hitting, point play and matches. Players will also train with strength and conditioning specialists to improve their strength, speed, and physical performance.
USTA Junior Team Tennis (BG 12, 14, and 18 under teams
Matches:
- 12-Under: Saturday, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
- 14-under: Saturday, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
- 18-under: Saturday, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Matches are typically 2 hours in length. Match play on Saturday afternoons against other area clubs. Focus on improving competitive singles and doubles match play.
Team Practice: Sunday 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.
Main objective: Build match play experience in a fun, team based atmosphere.
Junior Competitive Tennis
- Tuesday, 4:30-6:00 p.m.
- Thursday, 4:30-6:00 p.m.
- Saturday, 12:00-1:30 p.m.
Players need coach approval to enroll. Sessions are 1.5 hours in length. Designed to train players for entry level tournaments, school tennis and JTT team play. Focus is on advanced racquet and movement skills, & strength and conditioning.
Main objectives: Prepare players for local and sectional level competitive tennis.
Train and enforce high performance tennis habits and skills.
Intensity Tennis
- Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
- Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
- Sunday, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Players need coach approval to enroll. Sessions are 2 hours in length. Designed to train experienced high performance junior tennis players. Focus on training players for school varsity level tennis, & local, sectional and national level tournament competition.
Main objectives: Train players to compete at the maximum level of their ability.
Prepare players to compete in Division I, II, & III college tennis.
Adult Beginner Clinic
For the beginner to beginner- plus player. This clinic provides basic stroke progressions and introduces doubles and singles point play, scoring and basic strategies.
When: Beginner Level(2.0) Monday 9:30-11:00 a.m. or Tuesday 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Beginner Plus+ Level(2.5) Monday 6:30-8:00 p.m. or Wednesday 9:30-11 a.m.
Fee: $155 for members.
Adult Intermediate Clinic
This fast-paced clinic is perfect for the 3.0/3.5 player looking to improve his or her game. Emphasis is on stroke progressions, footwork, strategies, and point play. Players must have an NTRP 3.0/3.5 rating.
When: Monday 9:30-11:00a.m. or Wednesdays 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Fee: $155 for members.
Weekly Sign-Up Clinics
Clinics specializing in specific strokes or tactics are offered weekly.
- Volleys, Half Volleys & Overheads - Wednesdays 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m
- Wednesday Night Workout - Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
- Thursday Advanced Tennis - Thursdays 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.
- 50+ Round Robin - Fridays 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Adult Competitive Play
Adult Flex Leagues
Competitive play for Healthplex members. Our adult singles leagues are flighted by NTRP rating guidelines. Matches are scheduled by the players. Twelve-week Fall and Winter leagues are available.
Fall League deadline: Sept. 22, 2012. Play begins Sept. 28.
Winter/Spring League deadline: Jan. 19, 2013 Play begins Jan. 25
Fee: $10. Registration fee must be paid before play schedule will be provided.
Women's Friday Interclub
The Healthplex® Sports Club sponsors three teams in the Women's DelTri Friday Interclub League and is open to any member of the Healthplex. Interclub teams are traveling teams, therefore all players must be able to play away matches as well as home matches.
Fee: Determined by the league. Match play is on Fridays beginning in October.
