Wellness  

The Wellness Center at the Healthplex® Sports Club is perfect for:

  • Those with limited exercise experience that may feel they need extra supervision.
  • Those receiving or who have recently completed a hospital-based program, such as physical or occupational therapy, cardiac or pulmonary rehab, medical weight loss or diabetes education.

Wellness Center participants will be assessed, and then guided through a personalized, goal oriented program in an environment that promotes well-being and an increased quality of life. Our highly qualified staff will be able to screen your vital signs, progress and modify your exercises to safely improve your fitness level, and will help integrate fitness and other healthy habits into everyday life.

The team at the Wellness Center at the Healthplex® Sports Club is committed to improving the health and fitness of men and women of all ages who are looking to prevent disease, manage an underlying medical condition, or address specific health needs. The Wellness Center is an information hub that introduces and guides participants, club members, and the community to programs and services such as nutrition counseling and stress management to improve overall health.

Aqua Wellness Classes

Classes are held in out warm water therapy pool and run 45-60 minutes.  Exercise specialists guide participants through a gentle, yet effective series of endurance and strengthening exercises, including warm up and cool down.


Aqua Arthritis

This 45 minute class meets several times a week in our warm-water activity pool with trained and certified instructors who provide a friendly, supportive environment. Low/No-impact Exercises are especially designed to offer relief from pain and stiffness for people with arthritis. Participation in this class helps improve your joint flexibility and strength, which can help improve coordination, balance and overall mobility with the aid of the water’s buoyancy and resistance. The instructor is CPR and AED-certified through the American Heart Association.

 

Aqua Easy

This one-hour, low-impact class held in our warm-warm activity pool with trained and certified instructors who provide a friendly, supportive environment. This class is designed for people recovering from orthopedic injuries, neuromuscular disorders and limited exercise capacity. This class helps improves strength and flexibility using the resistance and buoyancy of the water, it also incorporate cardiovascular exercise to help round out your balanced exercise program. Aqua Easy meets several times per week. The instructor is CPR and AED-certified through the American Heart Association. 

 

Aqua Fibromyalgia

This low/no-impact class held in the warm-water activity pool with trained and certified instructors who provide a friendly, supportive environment.  This class takes advantage of the therapeutic properties of the warm water. This class helps to increase rage of motion and muscle relaxation and to decrease chronic pain, stress and other physical discomforts associated with fibromyalgia, arthritis and similar conditions. Slow, gentle motions and an integrated total body approach enhance the mind body connection and an overall positive outlook. The instructor is also CPR and AED-certified through the American Heart Association. 



Ai-Chi

This low/no-impact class is held in our warm water activity pool with trained and certified instructors who provide a friendly, supportive environment. This class is a form of water exercise which uses slow circular movements to build strength, balance and flexibility while also promoting relaxation and a healthy mind-body relationship. The instructor is also CPR and AED-certified through the American Heart Association. 

 

Water Workout

This low impact, moderate intensity exercise class is held in our warm water activity pool with trained and certified instructors who provide a friendly, supportive environment. This class pays special attention to cardiovascular conditioning and muscle strengthening. This total body workout also includes core toning, and stretching. Water Workout meets several times per week. The instructor is CPR and AED-certified through the American Heart Association. 



Aqua NMC

This low impact, moderate intensity exercise class is held in our warm water activity pool with the last portion being in the cooler water lap pool with trained and certified instructors who provide a friendly, supportive environment. This class allows the participant to increase their mind body awareness in the buoyant warm water environment. Gentle motion and an integrated total body approach enhance the mind body connection and an overall positive outlook. The instructor is also CPR and AED-certified through the American Heart Association.



Body Sculpting

This low impact, moderate intensity exercise class is held in our warm water activity pool with trained and certified instructors who provide a friendly, supportive environment. This class focuses on challenging muscle groups while using a variety of exercise equipment. Class simulates time in the weight room while utilizing the support of the water. The instructor is also CPR and AED-certified through the American Heart Association.

 

Land Wellness Classes

Participants perform individually developed exercise programs in a gym setting. Exercise specialists screen vital signs, modify and update exercises, ensure correct form, and answer questions. Sessions are 45-60 minutes and are held at designated times throughout the week.


Healthy Living

Designed for people with orthopedic injuries, neuromuscular disorders and limited exercise capacity, this one-hour class includes varied exercise on bikes, treadmills and other cardiovascular exercise equipment combined with resistance training using resistance and machines. Exercise programs are individualized based on your physical condition and goals. Exercise specialists monitor progress in a group setting. Trainers are exercise specialists, certified through accredited organizations, and are AED- and CPR-certified through the American Heart Association. 



Chair Exercise

Exercise specialists guide participants through a series of exercises specially designed for a sitting position or holding on position to improve balance, strength, and flexibility. Sessions are 45-60 minutes and are held at designated times throughout the week. Instructors are exercise specialists, certified through accredited organizations, and are AED- and CPR-certified through the American Heart Association. 


Strength for Life

A 60 minute weight training group fitness class especially geared for new exercisers and active older adults to help improve strength, balance, coordination and flexibility. Instructors are exercise specialists, certified through accredited organizations, and are AED- and CPR-certified through the American Heart Association. 



Qigong

This 45-60 minute group class uses the ancient are of slow, gentle weight-shifting movement to connect mind and body and promote relaxation and improved mobility. Instructors are exercise specialists, certified through accredited organizations, and are AED- and CPR-certified through the American Heart Association. 

  

Moms in Motion

Moms in Motion is a unique program that allows moms-to-be and new mothers to participate in supervised exercise classes. Both land-based and aquatic classes are available to help women remain fit during and after giving birth. Classes are tailored to the special needs of each mom-to-be and mother, and participants can bond with other women going through the same experiences. Participation requires written permission from a physician or midwife. 



Aqua Mom

This supervised, low-impact aquatic exercise class is geared specifically for pregnant women, women who have recently given birth, and those with limited exercise experience. This class includes cardiovascular conditioning, core strengthening, and targeted stretching exercises. The warm water provides a safe and effective format for increasing blood flow through the lower extremities, reducing swelling and other uncomfortable pressure, and developing greater strength and flexibility. The instructor is trained, and aquatic certified and is also certified in AED and CPR through the American Heart Association. 



Healthy Living

Designed for prenatal and post partum mothers and those with limited exercise capacity, this one-hour class includes varied exercise on bikes, treadmills and other cardiovascular exercise equipment combined with resistance training using resistance and machines. Exercise programs are individualized based on your physical condition and goals. Exercise specialists monitor progress in a group setting. Trainers are exercise specialists, certified through accredited organizations, and are AED- and CPR-certified through the American Heart Association.
